ArranBot Beginners Guide

Thanks for using ArranBot! On this page you will find everything you need to use ArranBot effectively!

This page does not represent all ArranBots features, it is merely a getting started guide!

Welcoming users

Welcome Message
Set a welcome message using the following command:
//welcomemessage

You can use special operators to display info for instance:
//welcomemessage Welcome to $guild, $user there are now $members members!

Will display something like: Welcome to Test Server, @user there are now 50 users!

Welcome Roles
ArranBot can give new users an assignable role

You can do this using the following command:
//welcomerole @role

ArranBot Music

Music channels
ArranBot lets you turn a channel into a music channel. This makes it so anything said in the channel will count as a song request! For instance, sending "Kesha Tiktok" to the channel will queue the song to be played on the server.

We recommend you make a music channel in an empty text channel using the following command:
//addmusicchannel

You can remove a music channel using:
//removemusicchannel

Music commands
Alternatively, if you don't want to dedicate an entire channel to music you can use the following self explanatory commands:
//play (song)
//pause
//skip
//queue
//radio (radio station)

Donators will get access to the following command(s):
//playnext (song)

Fun commands

Profile
Look at someones ArranBot profile using:
//profile @user or //profile to see your own profile

Hug a user
Hugging a user sends a message to the chat and adds a hug to their total visible on their profile. You can use the following command to hug somebody:

Marry a user
You can marry a user using the //marry @user command. You will need a ring which you can buy in the shop (//shop). And the user will need to accept by responding yes.

Shop
Users gain XP by doing things on an ArranBot enabled server. They can spend this XP on some cool things avilable in the shop. Users can access the shop using //shop or alternatively //catalogue

Admin commands

Clean
Clean multiple messages from the channel you are in. This is very useful if somebody has spammed something in the chat. Use the following command:
//clean (number of messages)

Nickname
This command simply changes the users nickname on the guild:
//nick @user

Messagescan
Messagescan is a very powerful tool, it automatically deletes messages that contain certain words. This is very useful against racial slurs or other obscene language.

Message scan can be configured using the //messagescan command.

Messagescan can be fully enabled using:
//messagescan true true true

Alternatively it can be fully disabled with:
//messagescan false false false

ArranBot Verify

Verify users are real using email verification
ArranBot allows guild Administrators to set up verification emails as well as automatic role assignment upon verification

At this time, ArranBot verify only exists for students at the following university's:

  • Glasgow Caledonian University
  • Glasgow University
  • Strathclyde University
  • Stirling University

To set up ArranBot verify as a guild administrator
Your Guild will need a role to be given to verified users and ArranBots role must be placed higher than this so that ArranBot has permission to assign the role.

Once you have confirmed the above to exist/be true a guild Administrator can type:
//verify_setup [Server Code] [Verified Role]

Server code - A word that relates to your guild or society, this is used the //verify command. For instance 'GCUminecraft'

Verified Role - The role you wish users to receive when they verify themselves either type the exact name or @ the role.

If the command is executed successfully a message should appear in the chat!

To verify yourself as a university student
To verify yourself as a student direct message ArranBot with the following command:
//verify [Server Code] [University Email]

Direct messaging ArranBot is not required, this command can be executed in the guild normally, however, to protect your email we recommend to message the command to ArranBot directly.

If the command is executed successfully, you will be informed an email has been sent to the specified email and you will find a code in it.

Finally just type the command below to complete the verification process!
//submitcode [Code]
